Macra na Feirme repeats call for generational renewal for farmers
Years of highlighting the need for generational renewal for farmers has failed to yield tangible support, says Macra na Feirme. In addition, they have been calling for that land to enter into the hands of young farmers regardless of enterprise when…

Property price growth remains strong
While property price growth is still strong, this could slow as the year progresses, according to Trevor Grant, chairman of the Association of Irish Mortgage Advisers. The current housing shortage coupled with strong mortgage approval figures makes it difficult to forecast how the upcoming ECB rate increases will affect…

No extra EU funding for farmers
Tim Cullinan, president of the Irish Farmers Association, commented on the potential implementation by the EU Commission of a lump sum scheme designed to address pressures resulting from the inputs crisis as a diversion of funding rather than the provision of new funding. Lump sum payment to farmers suggested by the EU
Farmers could receive a once-off lump sum payment to offset cost increases they’ve had to shoulder since the outbreak of war in Ukraine. This is if a proposal by the European Commission bears fruit. This direct cash injection could see farmers receive up to €15,000, with SMEs potentially securing €100,000. To be formalised, the proposal must get approval from the Council of Ministers and the Parliament. The proposal is to…

Rent Pressure Zones (RPZs), which limit the extent to which rental prices can be increased in an area, have also created a two-tier rental market. The report…
