Autumn exports of number of high-quality weanlings to the continent are expected to fall as prices in Ireland are above Spain, France and Italy. Friday will be a wet day with outbreaks of rain, turning heavy at times, especially in the south west, with a chance of some thundery downpours. Maximum temperatures will range from 17 to 21C, in moderate southeasterly winds, fresh and gusty on exposed coasts.

Many central and western areas will be fine and warm on Friday and Saturday. Rain will spread into the far west early Friday, and move east on Saturday, becoming heavy and thundery in places during Sunday.

The farming industry has been called on to make safety a priority after four fatalities in two weeks.
