A 2014 New Holland T7.210 was the top seller at Hennessy Auctioneers Machinery Auction this past weekend, selling for €46000.
The monthly event once again attracted great interest, and Ciaran Hennessy confirms that trade was solid: “It was a good auction. There were 500 lots in it, and it was probably maybe about 82% or 83% clearance,” he says.
Looking at what items are consistently selling best, Ciaran says that the condition of the product is what’s most appealing to customers: “All clean equipment, it doesn’t matter how old it is, as long as its well-minded, and clean, it’s selling well. It doesn’t matter about age, as long as it’s well-minded.”
Has he seen lot numbers increase throughout the year? “No, they’re steady. We’d normally have about 400 to 500 lots every month, and they’re steady.”
Ciaran adds that the implantation of LSL Auctions Machinery software has added value to their auctions. “It offers more flexibility for buyers,” he comments.
The family-run business is drawing customers from all counties in Ireland. “Sometimes we’ll have some buyers from maybe the UK, but not many.” In terms of international trade he says that: “We don’t have too many bidders from other countries. Maybe one or two from outside but they only buy maybe special stuff. There are a few customers that are from Ireland that are living in other countries that might have a farm in Ireland, but they live in maybe Dubai or Australia or somewhere like that, and maybe their parents are at home on the farm and they buy the stuff for them when they’re abroad.”
