Phoenix Park Biodiversity Festival & Honey Show

Phoenix Park Biodiversity Festival & Honey Show

All are welcome to The Phoenix Park Biodiversity Festival & Honey Show on 10 September, 2022, from 10.00am to 6.00pm. The family-friendly event will be held at the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre at Phoenix Park in Dublin.

The park itself has 17 hives spread across the property, which are managed by the OPW gardeners. Their presence has seen the flora of the park benefit considerably. This makes sense as over 70% of the 100 food crops that provide 90% of the world’s food are pollinated by bees.

The Federation of Irish Beekeeping Associations (FIBKA) are delighted to be working with the OPW on their annual Phoenix Park Honey Show. Educational workshops and talks are available to school groups and interested parties on bee-friendly gardening and beekeeping.

A Staging of Exhibits will run from 8am to 10am. At 10.15am judging will commence, followed by the presentation of prizes at 4pm.

Special Awards

– Best Exhibit at the Show OPW Phoenix Park Trophy

– Best Comb Honey at the Show Tree Council of Ireland Trophy

– Best Run Honey at the Show Gleeson Trophy

– Class 12 FIBKA Trophy

– Novice Class National Biodiversity Centre Trophy

Tours and lectures will happen throughout the day. There’ll also be activities for the little ones throughout the day.
