Trench Dairies’ Dairy Farm Walk will be held at Garryduff Middle, Claremorris, Co Mayo. Eircode: F12XT62 on Thursday, 28 July, at 11am. It forms part of the Teagasc – Aurivo Joint Programme.
Donal and Liam started milking with 205 heifers in a company partnership in 2021. The farm is a mixed-soil type where 100% of the grazing platform has been reseeded with substantial investment in grazing infrastructure. New cubicle sheds and milking facilities were also constructed as part of this project.
The farm walk will cover the following topics:
- Setup of the new farming venture covering infrastructure design and cost, stock selection, business plan and costs
- Stocking rate, feed budget and grass performance on the farm
- Company structure
- IFAC will examine costs for keeping a cow in 2022 and tips for 2022/2023.

Teagasc field event
Teagasc Horticultural Development Department is hosting a field event on Outdoor Cut Foliage at Kildalton College, Piltown, Co. Kilkenny, E32 YW08 on Thursday, 28 July, 2022 at 1.30 pm sharp.
Those interested can meet at the car park on the right-hand side of the entrance to the college.
This event will provide attendees with an introduction to the enterprise, requirements for growing, market requirements, suitable species, etc. You can also view species being trialled for production at Kildalton.
