Harrogate antiques and fine art fair opens summer calendar

art fair

The Pavilions of Harrogate Decorative Antiques & Fine Art Fair opens Cooper Events’ summer calendar at the Great Yorkshire Showground from 10 to 12 June, 2022. It is the second of three editions this year.

The prestigious Harrogate venue, which has been described as the antiques capital of the north, will host the fair in two large suites, fully carpeted and with in-house catering from Fodders. The well-known Yorkshire caterers have a good deli shop and restaurant café on site.

A superb silver teapot made in 1838 will be a major attraction at the fair. It belongs to specialist silver dealer Mike Wilson from Highland Antiques, and came from York silversmiths James Barber and William North. York was the most important English provincial city in the Middle Ages, with its own “touch” or assay mark. Barber was a busy silversmith, who formed business partnerships with other silversmiths in York in the mid-19th century. This fine and rare teapot will be priced at £2,995.00.

Another key exhibit will be on the Rowles Fine Art stand. This superb oil painting on board by Harrogate artist Brian Shields, also known as BRAAQ, features a public boating pool with children playing in the foreground and a smoky industrial scene in the distance. ‘I’ll Bring my Own Boat Then!’ by BRAAQ will be for sale.

Public admission is £5.00. Opening times: Friday, 10 June to Sunday, 12 June 11am to 5pm. For more information and a full exhibitors’ list, visit Cooper Events.
