This month, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine will host in-person Basic Payment Scheme clinics (BPS) in 20 different locations. The sessions will allow farmers to meet one-to-one with a department official, and make their BPS application on the spot.
The DAFM clinics have been well-attended in previous years, but due to restrictions, were held up over the last two years,
Charlie McConalogue, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine is happy to announce the return of this service again this year. He says that around 24,000 farmers have already lodged their applications since the online facility was opened February 2022.
The purpose of the Basic Payment Scheme clinics is to assist farmers to make their BPS and other-related schemes applications online.
The Minister urges all farmers to submit their BPS application at the earliest possible opportunity before the 16 May, 2022, deadline.
“If farmers have already submitted their BPS application for this year and they now want to take on additional land or change the crop type, they can log back into agfood.ie to make any amendments, but they must make sure they do so before the deadline,” he added.
