Large sum of approved TAMS funds still available for spending

Up to the end of March 2022, in excess of €348m was paid out under TAMS II (Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme II), Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue has said. Slow uptake for agroforestry despite grant aid

Even with the availability of grant aid offers of €6,220 per hectare for the establishment of agroforestry in Ireland, landowners haven’t rushed out in their droves to take up the opportunity. Building costs impact the number of planning permissions

There were 305 planning permissions approved in quarter four last year, the Central Statistics Office (CSO) data shows. Preliminary work on the construction of the new Krone Parts and Logistics Center in Spelle has begun with the erection of a fence and the removal of topsoil. The UK national sheep flock stood at 14.5 million head on 1 December, showing an increase of 3% for the period of 2021. The Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) has called for an increase in pig prices. This comes as the pig farming sector is reporting that farmers are currently losing €56,000/month and the cost of feed continues to increase.
