Teagasc will host several farm walks this month. The programme begins with a Contract Heifer Rearing Farm Walk at Noel Farrell’s farm, Rathgallen, Golden, Co. Tipperary, Eircode: E25 F250 on Thursday 1 September, 2022 at 11am.
DAFM staff as well as host farmers will talk to attendees about why they should consider Contract Heifer Rearing, requirements for a successful agreement, health issues and other key concerns as well as the costs involved.
BETTER Farm Sheep Lowland Farm Walk
That evening, members of Teagasc will host a BETTER Farm Sheep Lowland Farm Walk at Francis Gonley, Colga, Co. Sligo, F91 T6X8 at 7pm.
Francis is a participant in the BETTER Farm Sheep Programme and the Teagasc Signpost Programme and will host attendees for a lowland sheep farm walk. He will be available to discuss topics such as flock performance, lamb performance, breeding and flock health.
Shinagh Open Day
A Shinagh Open Day will be held at Shinagh Dairy Farm, Shinagh, Co. Cork. Eircode P72 P298 on Friday, 2 September, 2022 at 11am. The theme is: ‘Can we achieve a climate neutral and profitable dairy farm?’

Hedgerow Week 2022 – Best Practice Hedge Cutting brings this annual event to a close with an episode of the Signpost Webinar Series on Friday, 2 September at 9.30am. The webinar will focus on hedgerows and hedgerow networks biodiversity. The guest speaker will be Dr Françoise Burel, CNRS, Université de Rennes.
