Ballymote Mart saw brisk trade across all sections last Thursday, 9 June, 2022 with bullocks getting prices up to €2,330. Heifers sold for €1,730 and suckler prices reached €1,560. What’s more, a July-2015-born Limousin-cross (no calf reg) sold for €3,160 in the dry cow ring.
Prices for bullocks ranged from €700 to €1,590 over:
CHX – 740kg – €2,330
SAX – 715kg – €2,300
CHX – 755kg – €2,240.
Prices for heifers varied from €550 to €1,100 over:
AAX – 630kg – €1,730;
CHX – 515kg – €1,560;
LMX – 450kg – €1,450.
Sucklers changed hands for €1,300 to €2,020 per unit:
2019-born LMX cow with LMX heifer calf at foot – €2,020.
Meanwhile, in the dry cows section, stores reached €900 to €1,500 and heavy lots traded from €1,700 to €3,160/head:
LM – 1,005kg – €3,160;
CHX – 755kg – €2,290;
AAX – 745kg – €2,240.
Sheep prices 7 June, 2022
The sheep trade was “excellent” at last Tuesday’s mart with lighter-type cull ewes changing hands for €90 to €125. In addition, heavier lots sold for €135 to €184.
Lambs lighter than 40kg went under the hammer for €95 to €110.50. If they weighed more than 39.5kg, they sold for €150. Lambs weighing 37.5kg peaked at €134.
Lambs 40kg to 45kg sold for €100 to €124 over: 44kg – €168; 44kg – €165 and 44.5kg – €164;
Lambs 45kg to 50kg traded from €105 to €128 over: 46kg – €174; 45kg – €173 and 49kg – €174;
Heavier lots peaked at €132 over: 54kg – €186 and 51kg – €179.
