Weather Update: Ireland's Outlook for the Week Ahead

On Saturday, 12th August, Ireland is set to experience a mix of sunshine and rain. While the day will bring moments of brightness, there will also be intermittent showers, some of which could be intense, leading to potential spot flooding in certain areas. The mercury is expected to hover between a pleasant 17 to 21 degrees, accompanied by moderate to brisk southwesterly gusts.

As the nation prepares for the night, the weather doesn’t seem to relent. Persistent showers, and at times, prolonged rain, are on the cards for Saturday evening. There’s a heightened risk of localised flooding in some regions. Night-time temperatures will settle around a cool 12 to 13 degrees, with the southwest winds maintaining their moderate pace.

Sunday promises a similar pattern with sunny intervals disrupted by showers. The northern and western parts of the country should brace for more frequent downpours. Daytime temperatures will range from 18 to 21 degrees, with the southwesterly winds continuing their moderate flow.

By Sunday evening, a slight reprieve is in sight. Temperatures will dip to 12 or 13 degrees, but the winds will mellow, and showers will largely be confined to the west and northwest coasts. The rest of the country can anticipate a predominantly dry night.

Monday morning offers a dry and bright start. However, as the day progresses, the skies will once again be dotted with clouds, bringing sporadic showers in the afternoon. Some of these could be on the heavier side. The temperature is forecasted to be between 18 to 21 degrees, with gentle to moderate westerly breezes.

Tuesday follows a similar script: a dry morning giving way to afternoon showers, which are expected to scatter by evening. The temperature will be slightly cooler, peaking at 18 or 19 degrees, under the influence of light westerly winds.

As the week unfolds, early indications hint at a drier spell for the subsequent days, with temperatures on the rise, setting the stage for what could be a warmer weekend ahead.
