A look at the week ahead suggests a mixed bag of weather. Periods of showers, interspersed with thunderstorms, will be experienced across the UK. However, these spells of inclement weather will be punctuated by bursts of warm sunshine.
Today’s weather report shows rain spreading over Scotland, some instances being significantly heavy. This will gradually clear towards the north, leading to spells of sunshine and sporadic showers in the northern and western parts of the UK. Thunderstorms are also expected to form during the day. The south and east parts, on the other hand, will remain largely dry, basking in very warm sunshine.
As we move into the evening, the weather will become predominantly dry with the sunset expected to provide late rays of sunshine. Nighttime will be characterised by clear spells, with intermittent patches of low cloud and fog. However, there is the potential for heavy, showery rain to develop across southwest England and Wales.
Tuesday, 20th June
Moving on to Tuesday, rain is predicted to sweep from the southwest across England and Wales, reaching Scotland later in the day. This may result in some heavy and potentially thunderous outbursts. Aside from this, we can anticipate a day of warm sunshine interspersed with showers, some of which may also be locally thundery.
Wednesday, 21st June to Friday, 23rd June
Looking ahead to the latter part of the week, Wednesday continues the trend with both sunshine and showers on the cards, and the possibility of further thunderstorms. Showers will diminish on Thursday, making way for warmer conditions. As we reach the end of the week on Friday, a considerable part of the south and east will enjoy fine, warm sunshine. However, it is likely that rain will make its presence felt in other regions.
