Forecast weather to Ireland, TODAY – Tuesday 7th March

At present, mostly sunny conditions are expected in the northern half of the country today, while cloudier conditions are forecast in the south. A few scattered showers, some wintry in nature, will continue to affect parts of the north and northwest, so be sure to pack an umbrella and appropriate clothing for any unexpected weather changes.

A cold and frosty night is expected throughout the country, although most places will be dry. Clouds in the south will gradually build up over Munster and south Leinster with a few patches of rain, sleet, and snow moving into the far southwest. Lowest temperatures of -4 to 0 degrees are forecast, falling as low as -5 or -6 degrees in Ulster and the northwest. Light to moderate northeast to east winds, fresher in the southwest.

Tomorrow’s Forecast – Wednesday 8th March

Wednesday will begin with another cold and frosty start to the day, especially in the north, with some icy stretches in places. Mostly cloudy conditions are expected over the southern half of the country with patchy rain, sleet, and snow at times in southern areas. However, further north, it will be dry and sunny. Highest temperatures will be just 3 to 6 degrees in light to moderate easterly winds, continuing fresher in the southwest.

Thursday, 9th March

Thursday is forecasted to be a wet day with outbreaks of sleet and snow over much of the northern half of the country with accumulations likely. Very cold temperatures are expected, struggling to get above freezing. Milder conditions are forecasted further south with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, with temperatures increasing to 6 to 10 degrees. Moderate to fresh easterly winds will back northeasterly later.

Outbreaks of sleet and snow will gradually become confined to the north and east later in the night with largely dry conditions developing elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +1 degrees generally, colder in the northwest, with northerly winds easing light to moderate.

Friday’s Forecast, 10th March

Friday will bring further outbreaks of sleet and snow moving into the southwest through the morning, extending to the rest of southern areas throughout the day. Mostly dry conditions are forecast further north with some showers of sleet and snow. Highest temperatures will be between 2 to 6 degrees in the south in mostly light northeasterly winds. The evening is expected to become mostly dry.

Mostly dry conditions are expected to start Friday night, before outbreaks of rain, sleet, and snow extend over much of the country. Lowest temperatures will be between -3 to +1 degrees generally, colder in the north where it will be driest. Saturday is forecasted to be a wet day with widespread outbreaks of sleet and snow gradually transitioning to rain as temperatures increase through the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach 6 or 7 degrees in the north in the late afternoon and 12 or 13 degrees in the south.
