‘Dutch Drawings’ at the National Gallery

Dutch Drawings

In the atmospheric Print Gallery at the National Gallery of Ireland, visitors have a rare opportunity to view an exhibition of works by 17th-century Dutch artists from the collection of the world-famous Rijksmuseum.

Drawings and prints by artists including Rembrandt, Hendrik Avercamp, Jan van Goyen and Jacob van Ruisdael take centre stage. From a child’s first steps to peaceful wooded landscapes, ‘Dutch Drawings’ gives an insight into life in the Netherlands centuries ago through exquisitely skilful works on paper.

This exhibition is organised in cooperation with the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Since 2012, the Rijksmuseum has been one of the first museums in the world to make large parts of its collection digitally available to everyone via Rijksstudio, a website developed thanks to the Friends of the Lottery. Using Dell Technologies’ storage applications, the total collection of 1.1 million works of art and history objects, including the world’s most comprehensive Rembrandt collection, can be further digitized by 2023. The footage will then be sent via the Rijksstudio and the accompanying app are available so that anyone, anywhere in the world, can view, download and share the entire digitized collection of the museum for free and in high resolution.

The exhibition at the National Gallery is curated by Anne Hodge. Entrance is free. ‘Dutch Drawings’ is open until 6 November, 2022.
