The Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) Annual Exhibition is Ireland’s largest and longest-running open submission exhibition of visual art. It returns for its 192nd year and is open to the public until 24 July, 2022.
Visitors to the Dublin venue can view 570 works across the mediums of paint, sculpture, drawing, print, photography and architecture. The annual exhibition is a core responsibility of the artist members of the RHA. This year, 4,038 works of art were submitted from which 378 works were accepted. These are exhibited throughout all gallery spaces alongside works by RHA members and invited artists.
With Ireland’s largest artistic prize fund of over €70,000 available to all exhibiting artists, the RHA Annual Exhibition attracts the highest calibre of working artists today. The majority of work is for sale and provides an opportunity for collectors and first-time buyers alike to support artists by acquiring their work. Prices range from €65 to €36,000, and everything in between.
Last year’s Annual Exhibition saw more than €455,000 paid directly to artists in sales commissions and prizes – a 13-year high. The RHA thanks the public for its ongoing support of the Annual Exhibition, which also supports the work of the Academy as a registered charity providing a platform for Irish artists for nearly 200 years.
Admission is always free and a series of artist-led tours and talks are scheduled for the duration of this exhibition. The RHA is at Gallagher Gallery, 15 Ely Place, Dublin 2, D02 A213.
