Farmer Phil takes the wheel at silage event

Farmer Phil

Farmer Phil recently attended a Krone silage event day, where he was able to see all the kit working and drive a Fendt with a four-rotor rake. View the footage below.

Farmer Phil’s family has farmed land in Co. Longford since 1938. His grandfather, Harry Stewart established the farm at age 19 with two horses, a cart, plough, and a bag of oat seed. Today, they farm more than 500 acres of land in grass and tillage both at home and in the surrounding areas.

The family also runs a contracting business, offering slurry spreading, silage, grain rolling, reseeding, and more. Alongside this, we rear dairy calves from local farms and raise them to beef. They supply home-reared high-quality beef direct to the consumer.

All Krone mowers are known for their excellent quality as well as the SafeCut impact protection system which protects discs and driveline with a 20-cent roll pin. Krone machines feature a developed satellite drive and massive spur gears rotating at reduced speeds to distribute power evenly all the way to the last disc and reduce heat. All Krone mowers are driven from the rear of the bed, rather than through the first hat. This avoids grass wrapping around the mower. The complete mower range is shaft-driven, always maximising the mower’s performance with consistent power.
