Get involved in National Biodiversity Week

biodiversity week

National Biodiversity Week runs until 22 May, 2022, and the Irish Environmental Network has compiled an entertaining programme to connect people with nature.

It’s about communicating the importance of biodiversity and motivating people to protect it, but also about having fun, demonstrating the wonders of nature, and inspiring people to learn, see, and do more.

The events cover all interests, from the ocean to the mountain tops. There’s lots to see and learn, so dive in to the events calendar and see what interests you.

Join the An Taisce EULIFE Team on 19 May, 2022 from 12pm to 6pm and learn how freshwater wetlands can benefit farmers while also providing important habitats for wildlife.

Participants will be welcomed to the Liston Family organic farm just outside Croom, Co. Limerick. Here they will see first-hand how a properly designed, integrated constructed wetland can fulfil multiple roles on a working farm. From filtering and cleaning to providing wet woodland and open water habitats for wildlife, participants will learn all about the benefits of farmland wetlands.

There will also be ample opportunity to experience the diversity of wildlife that the Liston Family Farm wetland supports and to learn how to use aquatic wildlife to classify your own pond.
