Quicker conveyancing in residential sales deals

Conveyancing

A new system could trim off around two months off the time it takes to get a house purchase over the line once it goes “sale agreed”. This could be in play once DFI Consulting launches their platform aimed at speeding up the conveyancing process in residential sales deals.

The facility will be available later this month. The firm is engaging with larger solicitors’ firms, the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association and the Law Society, to introduce it to potential users.

DFI Consulting director Stephen Curtis expands on the platform: “Residential conveyancing in Ireland takes too long – all stakeholders accept that – but there is no silver bullet that will, in one fell swoop, change things overnight. But a platform like ours to project manage document collection will shave weeks off typical transactions.”

He adds that it will possibly appeal to larger solicitors’ practices, and that he aimed for it to become a “trusted partner” in the process.

“We want to become a one-stop shop for people to get all the documentation that they need when buying a residential property. That takes the work off them and it speeds things up because we are experienced in getting this documentation and we can get it in a more organised, more systematic way, and on a volume basis.”

“Solicitors are legal practitioners and not project managers, so we have built a platform that allows solicitors hand over the work associated with obtaining these documents to an outsourced project manager, introducing a bit of certainty to the process,” he concludes.
