Hub space demand surges as remote work remains popular

Remote working hub

As the government unveils new guidance on how to return to the office safely, the demand for remote workspaces has escalated.

One platform for remote working hubs, NoCo, has reported seeing a 150pc increase in inquiries in the last month – from large and small firms across multiple industries, including tech, legal and accounting services.

“The demand here has just jumped through the roof,” said NoCo founder Brian Moran. “There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or rhythm to the types or size of companies or the industry that are coming into us.”

“In some capacity, hybrid working or remote working is actually a one-size-fits-all.”

“Groups of employees who live close together want somewhere to go and collaborate and keep that culture going, and meet each other, for the social aspect of it and also for the productivity aspect of it.”

Ireland has seen the second-highest rise in ads for remote jobs since the pandemic started.

This is out of 20 countries surveyed by jobs site Indeed and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The number of remote roles on Indeed rose four-fold on pre-pandemic levels, while searches for remote roles are now six times higher.

“There’s a big war for talent going on,” Mr Moran observed.
