(UK) Future Farming Resilience Fund offers farmers free support

DEFRA has set up a support scheme for farmers and land managers as they prepare for agricultural transition.

It is available to all farming businesses from the dairy, beef and sheep sectors in England that are in receipt of Basic Payment Scheme payments.

As the UK is now outside of the EU and not bound by the Common Agricultural Policy, the Government has set out plans for a seven-year agricultural transition to a new system that will reward farmers for environmental improvements alongside food production on their land.

Free advice will include helping farmers to understand the changes that are happening; identify how, what and when they may need to adapt their business models; and access tailored support to adapt.

Support will be in the form of farm resilience reviews, seminars, webinars and training. A list of organisations providing support, along with the areas in England they cover, is available online via the DEFRA website.

Each organisation will provide their own tailored programme of support from August 2021 to February 2022.
