‘Factories are trying to scare farmers’ into accepting lower lambs prices

National chemical fertiliser register in the works for Ireland
Details of the Nitrates Action Plan (NAP) consultation reveal a proposed register of chemical fertiliser sales in Ireland. Around 2,000 nitrates-related inspections are undertaken on farms across Ireland each year. UK Farmer pledges save alpaca from being euthanised
A farmer who owns a prized alpaca has vowed to stand in the way of anyone who comes to destroy the animal after it tested positive for TB. Helen Macdonald made the pledge after a high court judge ruled dismissed her appeal and agreed her alpaca needs be euthanised. The Environment Agency (EA) has agreed to relax rules preventing the spreading of slurry and manure on some land in autumn until the end of February 2022. Farmers face huge bills for dying roadside ash trees
Financial and legal responsibility are being placed farmers to deal with road safety issues caused by ash tree dieback disease. More than 80 per cent of Ireland’s ash population is estimated to be vulnerable to the disease with only one to two per cent being naturally tolerant.
