Ireland launches roadmap for sustainable food system Food Vision 2030

Ireland wants to become world leader in sustainable food systems over the next decade. 

A roadmap to increase agri-food exports from €14 billion to €21 billion by 2030 has been launched by the Government.

Food Vision 2030 aims to enhance Ireland’s position as a global leader in safe, sustainable agri-food exports.

It hopes the strategy will position Ireland as a world leader in sustainable food systems delivering benefits for the sector and environment.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Charlie McConalogue will oversee the monitoring and implementation process for FoodVision 2030.

“The strategy recognises the crucial role the sector has and will continue to play in rural and coastal communities, and in achieving balanced regional development for the country as a whole,” Mr McConalogue said.

“The incomes of our producers are central and critical to the success of Food Vision 2030 as they are the bedrock of our world-class agri-food sector. 

“Ireland is the sustainable food capital of the world and the strategy underlines the important linkages between food and health and nutrition, and the fundamental importance of food safety and quality in achieving a premium position of food safety and quality in achieving a premium position in key markets.”
