Nearly 19,000 applicants for the Beef Exceptional Aid Measure (BEAM) are on track to meet the bovine nitrates five per cent reduction requirement by the 30 June deadline.
According to the latest figures from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) there were around 34,500 applications for BEAM.
Participant analysis revealed just over 16,000 farmers applied for the BEAM deferment option, with only 5,000 of those deferring likely to have met their five per cent bovine nitrates reduction requirement by the 30 June deadline.
Those farmers on deferment who have met the required reduction in bovine nitrates will be contacted by the department in August to let them know they have met the deadline and will be removed from the BEAM deferment.
However, analysis also revealed that just over 14,500 farmers on the BEAM scheme are likely to have missed the five per cent reduction target for 30 June 2021.
