New TAMS tranche opens with key changes

The continuation of Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS) opens tomorrow (January 16). The scheme which closes on April 16 2021 provides grants for on-farm capital investment. 

Some amendments have been made to new tranche, which include addition of investments formerly available under the Calf Investment Scheme will be included under TAMS. Derogation farmers will no longer be ligible to apply for support LESS equipment. GPS spreaders will be available for all categories of applicants. 

Agricultural Minister Charlie McConalogue said: “This is part of our transitional measures to provide support to farmers across our RDP schemes this year and I am delighted to have been able to secure funding for this crucial scheme. I have been very clear that continuity is very important and this is part of that commitment.”

The Minister also confirmed some flexibilities for existing TAMS approvals in response to COVID-19 issues. These include flexibility on TAMS completion deadlines and extending the submission deadline by three months. It is hoped the flexibilities will make it easier for farmers and their agents to participate in the scheme. 

The current Tranche 20 of the scheme closes today (January 15) and Trance 21 will open immediately afterwards on January 16. To date over €265m in grant paid out and existing applicants with approvals should submit their payment claims as soon as possible.
