Vacant homes to face a new tax in upcoming budget
Minister Paschal Donohoe has indicated that vacant homes will face a new tax in the next budget. This comes as new figures show that just over 57,000, or 3%, of habitable properties eligible to pay the LPT are vacant. New housing report punts vacant homes tax
An Oireachtas Joint Committee on Housing report into urban regeneration to be published today (Tuesday, 24 May, 2022) recommends that Government consider a vacant homes tax. The report also states that the imminent zoned land tax should be increased by more than 3%.
