Pig Exceptional Payment Scheme has processed 75% of applications received
The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue says that a total of 252 applications were received under the Pig Exceptional Payment Scheme (PEPS). Of this total 75% have since been processed for payment, McConalogue adds. No Irish applications for EU pigmeat storage aid 
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has confirmed that no Irish-based companies have applied for the EU private storage scheme for pigmeat. Significant losses reported in pig farming sector
There have been significant losses in the pig farming sector, with the average 600-sow pig unit losing €206,000 since the start of 2022, according to Teagasc.
