Nitrates Derogation needs to be workable and fair
Denis Drennan of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association has warned that the conditions attached to Ireland’s Nitrates Derogation are “unworkable”. Drennan, the association’s deputy president, called on Charlie McConalogue, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine, to intervene. Nitrates Derogation applications extended, says DAFM 
The deadline for applying for Nitrates Derogation has been extended, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has announced. The derogation allows more intensive farmers to operate at a higher stocking rate than stipulated in the Nitrates Directive.
