Industrial Emissions Directive alarms MEP

The European Commission is expected to propose that farms with 100 cattle or more will require permits, as a part of a major review of the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED). The Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) is calling on processors to institute a 30c/kg price increase for pig farmers. IFA pigs committee chair, Roy Gallie says that cashflows are unsustainable and that this is an urgent situation.
