Pottinger has announced a new addition to its grassland range, the new Mergento VT 9220 belt-type rake. It comes in working widths of up to 9.2m for a central swath and 8.7m for a side swath. TD criticises proposed turf sale ban

Independent TD Sean Canney has slammed the proposed ban on the sale and distribution of turf from September 2023. Canney adds that the ban is causing severe stress to homeowners. Dairygold confirms an increase in March milk supplies

Milk suppliers are expected to receive an increase in the price paid for supplies in March, this was the announcement made by Dairygold. The company has increased the March quoted milk price by 3.5c/L to 46.5c/L, based on standard constituents of 3.3% protein and 3.6% butterfat, inclusive of bonuses and VAT. The mineral muscovite mica has led to defects in building blocks used in at least 5,000 homes in the northwest, causing cracks to open up in many buildings. The Cabinet last year approved an enhanced scheme to cover repairs or rebuilding for affected homes. 11% increase in UK sheep kill figures for March

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) says that there has been an increase of 11% in UK sheep kill figures during March, with the figure just over one million head. According to the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), the increase in throughput is due to the fact that there were fewer sheep available due to Brexit. Europe records an increase in tractor sales for 2021

CEMA (European Agricultural Machinery Association) has confirmed that there was an increase in tractor sales for the period of 2021. The European umbrella organisation has released its data indicating that 230, 000 tractors were registered across Europe for 2021. Cabinet approves support package for pig sector

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has confirmed that cabinet has approved a €15.8 million support package for the pig sector. Lakeland Dairies reports a 20% revenue increase

Lakeland Dairies has reported a revenue increase of 20% to €1.3 billion as it published its annual results for 2021. The increase was seen across the processor’s four operating divisions namely: Food ingredients Foodservice Consumer Foods Agribusiness According to the results, group revenues rose by €217.7 million from the 2020 figure of almost €1.1 billion.
