Septic tank system inspections to increase due to high failure volume
According to data compiled by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), more than half of septic tank systems inspections last year failed because of operational issues such as de-sludging and structural defects. IWT opposes redesignation of 466 water bodies as ‘highly modified’
The Irish Wildlife Trust is opposed to the redesignation of 466 water bodies as ‘highly modified’. It says the move could leave thousands of kilometres of river permanently degraded and near lifeless. Hazardous farm waste collection scheme planned
A new scheme will see hazardous farm waste collected from designated drop-off points across the country. This will include everything from empty pesticide containers, veterinary medicine waste and used oil. Unauthorised peat extractions focus of inspections says EPA 
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released its annual summary report, and has highlighted the impact of enforcement efforts conducted in 2021. The focus of the efforts was mainly surrounding ‘unauthorised peat extraction sites’ upon which the EPA had conducted 48 inspections regarding this.
