Food prices – how Ireland fares

Ireland is ranked as second-most expensive for food prices in the Eurozone, a new report states. In 2021, food prices in Ireland were 17% above the EU27 average, making them the second-most expensive in the Eurozone, and third-most expensive in the EU27. Residential Property Price Index May 2022 – report

The national Residential Property Price Index (RPPI) increased by 14.4% in the 12 months to May 2022, according to a Central Statistics Office (CSO) report. Prices in Dublin rose by 11.7% while prices outside Dublin increased by 16.6% The Residential Property Price Index shows that in May 2022, 3,731 dwelling purchases by households at market prices were filed with the Revenue, an increase of 16.3% compared to the 3,207 purchases…

Pig prices steady up to €1.96/kg

There was no announced change to Irish pig prices this week with farmers receiving quotes of €1.90c/kg up to €1.94 or €1.92 to €1.96/kg. Some farmers who sold pigs to the north for slaughter received quotes of €2.00/kg. Farmers in ROI received similar quotes from ROI plants. Study finds alarming amount of microplastics in farm animal products

Results from a pilot study done by researchers at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam established that an alarming amount of microplastics can be found in farm animal products. This included almost 80% of meat and dairy products. Farmers have low regard for the banking system, report shows
