From 30 November new changes will mean that all private rights of way need to be registered before the deadline. However, it is estimated half of all rights of way remain unregistered. MEPs have overwhelmingly voted in favour of the €5 billion Brexit Adjustment Reserve with one fifth of the amount being allocated to Ireland. The European Parliament and the European Council agreed on the reserve fund which was supported by a majority of MEPs. The Department of Agriculture is considering phasing out the leasing of entitlements by introducing a ‘use them or lose’ them system. The plan would end the practice of ‘armchair’ farming and put entitlements in the hands of active and younger farmers. In a move to help curb greenhouse emissions, scientists have succeeded in potty-training cows by teaching them to urinate in a specially built toilet. German experts from its Research Institute for Farm Animal Biology have designed the so-called MooLoo which can collect ammonia from the waste so it can be treated.
