Upsurge in cattle numbers processed at Irish factories

Irish food board, Bord Bia has projected a sharp upsurge of 70 000 in the number of cattle processed in Irish factories. This comes after a steep drop in the head of cattle recorded last year. Stronger milk prices and an increase in cow numbers resulted in a 458m litre lift in output last year. Milk intakes by creameries reached a record level of 8,754m litres. This represents an increase of 5.5% when compared with 2020.
