Public voting open for Farming for Nature finals

People can now now vote for Farming for Nature awards with seven farms being selected as finalists following a huge increase in nominations.

This year’s finalists come from across Ireland and include beef, sheep, horticulture, dairy and tillage farmers who manage a range of valuable habitats including grasslands and heaths, wetlands, woodlands and hedgerows.

Farming for Nature was set up to share and celebrate the stories of Irish farmers’ who manage their land in a way that sustains nature, while providing a livelihood for their family.

Now in its fourth year, the initiative aims to highlight the valuable work farmers do in promoting and nurturing nature on their land.

Annual nominations are sought from a wide range of environmental experts and farms go through a series of interviews, visits and assessments by a panel of judges.

The public have until midnight on 22 October to choose the winner of the overall Farming for Nature Public Vote Award and can watch a series of short farm videos to help make their decision.
