The National Forecast for today, Tuesday 11th April, predicts a dry and sunny start for many areas. However, rain in the southwest will move towards the north and become widespread in the early afternoon. Heavy rain will occur in some places in the afternoon and evening. Later in the evening, showers will replace the rain in Connacht and Munster. The wind will be moderate to fresh southerly, turning to west, and blustery. In some parts of the east, south and midlands, the wind will become strong and gusty later in the afternoon and evening. The highest temperatures will range from 7 to 11 degrees.
Tonight will be blustery with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds. The winds will be very strong along the Atlantic coasts and later become very windy in the south. Rain will clear from the northeast early on, leading to clear skies and scattered heavy showers with possible hail. Isolated thunderstorms may occur. Heavy rain will return from the west overnight. The lowest temperatures will range from 0 to 4 degrees.
Wednesday, 12th April
Tomorrow, Wednesday 12th April, will be very windy with very strong and gusty northwest winds, reaching gale force in Atlantic coastal areas. It will be mostly cloudy with rain at times, heavy locally. The rain will be confined to the northeast later in the day, and scattered showers will develop elsewhere with some bright spells. The highest temperatures will range from 6 to 10 degrees.
The outlook for the country for the next few days is unsettled or changeable, and cool. Wednesday night will be windy, but winds will ease to a light or moderate westerly breeze. Ulster will experience fresh winds and rain, but the rest of the country will be clear with occasional showers.
Thursday, 13th April to Sunday,16th April
Thursday will have a mix of sunny spells and showers, with cloud cover increasing from the south later in the day. Friday will start cloudy with rain in the east, followed by sunny spells and moderate showers in a northwesterly airflow. On Saturday, there will be a dry and bright start, but it will turn cloudy with rain later spreading from the Atlantic. Sunday will be warmer with cloudy weather and patchy light rain, along with light to moderate southerly breezes.
