Adding to a spectacular calf sale this Monday, Castleisland Co-op also saw excellent quality in the weanling section with some fantastic prices achieved with most lots reaching over the €3 a kg bracket. The top price was 534kgs at €1670, with 3 CHX bulls 350kgs also making €1220.
The mart reports that they had 532 calves on offer, including over 350 coloured calves meeting a tremendous ringside and online trade. Top end calves reached top end prices with over €600 achieved in the calf ring and over 50 calves hitting off to Parkmore calf farm.
They saw Wicklow livestock and all over shipping agents back ringside with strong Fr bulls reaching highs of €220.
In general, shipping calves traded from €45-75.
AAX/ HEX and blues saw a serious trade with many midland customers back in action at the sale.
Note going forward: All sucks will now be weighted to help online customers.
The mart also has a new starting time of 10:00 due to increasing numbers.
Considering the demand, all types of CH/ LMX Weanlings are requested for next Mondays sale.
