During high tide the water would enter the mill to drive the wheels, a unique mechanism that was used for numerous mills in the area. The mill itself is a free-standing circular plan slit level with limestone walls with squared limestone capping. Although now roofless and derelict, this former tidal mill is an important part of the industrial heritage of the area, and also an impressive landmark in a beautiful landscape.
