In today’s video, Farmer Phil is “going tankering” as he begins the “silage in, slurry out” phase with the tanker. “It’s the last bit of tillage to be done on the maize ground so it’s ready for sowing, about six loads on five acres… The pressure is on to get it done,” he says.
He tries out a new splash plate that Father Phil had already given the thumbs up. Farmer Phil still had to put it through its paces though, and was suitably impressed – especially at the little downtime necessary to remove a blockage and get the machine going again.
In this video, Farmer Phil covers grazing ground and silage ground for a customer who was baled. His family has farmed here since 1938 and now farm more than 500 acres of land in grass and tillage both at home and in the surrounding areas. They also run a contracting business, offering slurry spreading, silage, grain rolling, and reseeding services, as well as raising dairy calves from local farms and raising them to beef.
Farmer Phil also takes a look inside the tanker, and “gets it all cleaned out for something exciting that’s going to happen”. Watch this space!
