Reduced crop contamination as tracks take industry by storm

The Terra Trac concept is a valuable development in the range of Jaguar forage harvesters. It introduced tracks that have made big waves in the agricultural machinery industry. The tracks bring the benefit of low ground pressure (LGP) to stock farmers who wish to cut grass early in the season and maize later in the year. Despite launching with a slow start in 2018, the tracks are now becoming a staple in the industry.

With ever increasing machine weight, there appears to be a concern for soil structure, but the developed range of tracks diminishes the wear and tear of the machine. As there is often a concern regarding tracks scuffing the soil, some farmers are looking forward to the new Terra Trac concept, as the newly developed track is quite different.

The lifting system pushes down on central rollers lifting track ends from the ground and minimising tearing up of the turf. Farmers have found an added bonus to the latest development as the tracked harvesters have reduced sideslip on slopes. This appears to be one of the main selling points of the machine due to the reduced soil compaction.

In adding attention to reducing ground pressure there are various gains with fitting tracks instead of wheels and reduces soil contamination of crops.
