There’s has been a slump in the sale of tractors in comparison to the same period in 2021. Farm Tractor and Machinery Trade Association (FTMTA), released the latest figures regarding sales and registrations of tractors, revealing to much dismay that there had only been 420 recorded tractor registrations for the month of January. Despite the amount of registered tractors across the country, the figure showed a 12% decrease for the same time last year.
While the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA) indicates that the majority of the tractors were purchased in Northern Ireland with the figure at 58 new registered tractors, the opposite could be said for Sligo and Leitrim, with the counties recording new registrations of 3 tractors each. With an increase of 32% in registrations for tractors, Northern Ireland recorded a figure of 44 tractors for the same period in 2021.
It’s understood that the UK had a recorded 500 tractors registered in January, which related to a 13.8% slump in the market. Added to the figure were loaders as the FTMTA report indicated that 39 new wheel loaders were registered in January a significant increase for the same period last year, with an increase of 59%.
The 101hp and 120hp proved to be the most popular models with the highest number of registrations at 108 units, relating to almost 26% of all registrations.
