The Association of Farm & Forestry Contractors in Ireland (FCI) aims to provide “fair and reasonable” guidance for farm and forestry contractors and their clients, and their FCI Contracting Charges Guide for 2022 hones in on plant and tractor hire work rates.
The annual publication collates together average figures for each operation from a panel of members across Ireland.
The FCI stresses though that the figures only represent an average price guide, and local variations could affect charges. Variations may exist between regions, across soil types, size of contracts undertaken, distance travelled, size and type of equipment, as well as scale of work.
Guide charge rates for plant and tractor hire work:
14t excavator – €77/hr
Digger hire (3CX) – €60/hr
Tractor and dumper – 14 tonne – €57-62/hr
Wheel loader – 10 tonne – €68-72/hr
Teleporter – €60/hr
Mini – digger – €35-38/hr
Road sweeper – €55/hr
Tractor hire (100-150hp tractor & operator) – €55/hr
Tractor hire (150-200hp tractor & operator) – €60/hr
Snow work:
Tractor snow hire (100-150hp tractor & operator) – €67/hr
Tractor snow hire (150-200hp tractor & operator) – €72/hr
Wheel loader snow hire – 10 tonne – – €80-85/hr
Prices are based on green diesel at 75c/L. The estimates are distributed as a guide only, plus VAT at 13.5%, and per area or per hour. They include operator, unless otherwise stated.
