Organic processing scheme open for applications
The first tranche in 2021 of the Organic Processing Investment Grant Scheme has opened for applications, Senator Pippa Hackett announced. A joint campaign urging farmers to stay safe this summer, has been launched by the Irish Community Air Ambulance (ICAA) and Macra na Feirme. Farming accidents account for over 40 per cent of all fatal workplace incidents nationwide. Climate and biodiversity projects awarded €524m
A €1 billion National Recovery and Resilience Plan will allocate €524 million to climate and biodiversity-led projects. New Covid support package launched for NI potato farmers
A £2 million support package has been launched for potato farmers affected by Covid-19 in Northern Ireland. New licences for badger culls in UK to end after 2022
DEFRA chiefs have confirmed plans to stop licensing of new intensive badger culls after 2022, despite helping to reduce bTB rates.. Ministers have welcome the news that the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has recognised Ireland as having a negligible risk for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE).
