The Irish Government is negotiating with farmers over compensation as mink farms are phased out across the country.  Ministers are following up on a commitment in the Programme for the Government to close Ireland’s last three mink farms. There are currently 12 people working full-time across three farms, which rises to 30 people during peak season.  The Ministry for Agriculture, confirmed it is in talks with farmers to determine compensation.…

A conservation project to save the Cladoir sheep was visited by the Minister of State for Heritage Malcolm Noonan. The Cladoir Sheep Conservation Project, aims to regenerate the rare breed that were native to Connemara and mainly kept for their wool.
