It will be mainly dry with some sunshine across the midlands but wet further north and west of the country, according to Met Eireann. By the afternoon rain will be fairly widespread, becoming heavier in the southwest by the evening. South to southwest winds will strengthen in Munster and south Leinster. Highs of 6 to 9C but generally 2 to 5C across north Ulster.
Bands of rain and showers will continue overnight on Wednesday, clearing northeastwards by the morning with occasional clear spells developing in the west and south. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6C.
Thursday 4 February will be mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain. However, some clear spells may develop over Munster. Highs of 4 to 6C in the northern half of the country, 7 to 9C elsewhere. By the evening the showers will become mostly confined to coastal counties with some turning wintry over higher ground in Ulster. Clear spells will develop later in the night. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 3C with some ground frost developing.
